What Is the Worthington 2GR Gear Pump?

The Worthington 2GR is a heavy-duty, positive displacement gear pump built for demanding industrial environments. Unlike centrifugal pumps, it ties flow rate directly to shaft RPM  delivering predictable, controlled output every time.

This unit ships pre-configured for counter-clockwise (CCW) rotation, so it drops directly into systems that require that drive orientation.

Why Positive Displacement Matters

Centrifugal pumps produce variable output across a performance curve. The 2GR does not. Instead, it delivers flow proportional to RPM consistent and repeatable regardless of system pressure. This makes it the right choice for viscous fluids, pressure-sensitive systems, and applications that require metered flow.

CCW Rotation: Get It Right From the Start

Rotation direction controls flow direction and gear timing in every gear pump. Installing the wrong rotation causes reversed flow, accelerated wear, and startup failures. This 2GR ships factory-set for CCW so operators avoid those problems entirely.

Where the 2GR Performs Best

This pump excels in: oil and fuel transfer, lubrication systems, hydraulic service, chemical handling, and viscous fluid applications.

Furthermore, it holds steady output as back-pressure changes something centrifugal pumps cannot do reliably. As a result, it works especially well in closed-loop lubrication and hydraulic circuits.
